Newborn Photography Bristol – Reggie

When Stacey called me to say she would love to gift her sister a newborn session, I was delighted, honoured and a tiny bit intimidated too. Little Reggie’s aunty is a photographer you see…

Photographers, like any other type of artists, will always doubt their work. I don’t just want to create portraits that are genuine, timeless, beautiful, fresh and original. I want every photograph to carry emotions, to bring back a memory, a feeling. Deep down, every time I photograph a newborn, I seek to capture the rush of love mothers get when they first see their baby, when they experience their baby’s “firsts”… This hard to describe feeling I get every time I look at my daughters’ photographs, this sense that this fleeting moment will never be forgotten even if the memory itself fades a little every day…  And every time, once the gallery is edited, the coffee brewed, the biscuits served and the slideshow awaiting mum and dad, I get this little tinge inside – Did I get “this” in the photos? Are mum and dad going to love these? So you can imagine the pressure is a lot more when you know that one of your peers will be looking at them very closely…

Reggie came with his mum and dad when he was just a week old. He was an absolute delight to photograph and after he made sure I knew how much he liked his dummy, we had a lovely time capturing his first portraits! Mum and dad were delighted with the images and how they captured Reggie’s personality, his first smiles, his little features such as his eye lashes and his determined but oh-so-cute little frown.

As for aunty Stacey, she sent me these words: “Thank you so so much for giving my sister such an amazing photography experience! We are over the moon with the photographs!”
