Newborn Photography Bristol – Reggie

When Stacey called me to say she would love to gift her sister a newborn session, I was delighted, honoured and a tiny bit intimidated too. Little Reggie’s aunty is a photographer you see…

Photographers, like any other type of artists, will always doubt their work. I don’t just want to create portraits that are genuine, timeless, beautiful, fresh and original. I want every photograph to carry emotions, to bring back a memory, a feeling. Deep down, every time I photograph a newborn, I seek to capture the rush of love mothers get when they first see their baby, when they experience their baby’s “firsts”… This hard to describe feeling I get every time I look at my daughters’ photographs, this sense that this fleeting moment will never be forgotten even if the memory itself fades a little every day…  And every time, once the gallery is edited, the coffee brewed, the biscuits served and the slideshow awaiting mum and dad, I get this little tinge inside – Did I get “this” in the photos? Are mum and dad going to love these? So you can imagine the pressure is a lot more when you know that one of your peers will be looking at them very closely…

Reggie came with his mum and dad when he was just a week old. He was an absolute delight to photograph and after he made sure I knew how much he liked his dummy, we had a lovely time capturing his first portraits! Mum and dad were delighted with the images and how they captured Reggie’s personality, his first smiles, his little features such as his eye lashes and his determined but oh-so-cute little frown.

As for aunty Stacey, she sent me these words: “Thank you so so much for giving my sister such an amazing photography experience! We are over the moon with the photographs!”

If you are looking for a newborn photographer Bristol or Bath, I would recommend that you contact me as early as possible. Whilst it is often possible to accommodate last minute bookings as babies rarely arrive on a schedule, most clients contact me during their second semester to ensure availability during the first 2 weeks of their babies’ life.

I never thought there was anything better than being a child at Christmas until I got to be a mum at Christmas… Sure it is hard work getting everything organised from getting relatives meaningful-within-budget presents to arranging for family to stay in your busy house, hunting down the so-longed Hatchimal that’s out of stock everywhere… But the look in my little ones’ eyes on Christmas morning makes me almost burst with happiness. I try to lengthen this by having an Elf visiting our house in the weeks before Christmas. The girls just love the magic of it all, and so do I, even if it means being up late thinking of something fun that our Elf could do. I also capture every elf mischief on camera, feel free to have a peek here. Seeing the world through their eyes is the best thing about being a mum and I try to capture all of this so I can look back on this magical part of their life.

All of this to explain why not all sessions get blogged at Christmas. A lot of these images were Christmas presents too, so I kept these top secret to help Santa surprise the grown ups too with lovely photographic presents 🙂

Here is a small selection from the Christmas mini sessions. It was such a pleasure to photograph all of your lovely little ones and create some beautiful presents for you and your family. Children are excited at this time of Christmas and I hope to have capture a little bit of Christmas magic in the eyes of these little munchkins. Check out the last photo, some got a visit from a special person… 😉

Newborn photographer Bristol

It’s been a busy January in the studio. This seems to be an unusual thing in the photography world, as a lot of my newborn photographer Bristol colleagues find January to be a quiet month. The good thing about photographing newborns though is that it isn’t a seasonal job! I still have some Christmas sessions to blog as well as my January babies. So next on the blog we have:

– Christmas sessions;
– Reuben;
– Casper;
– Molly;
– Oliver;
– Tilly;
– Noah;
– Reggie;
– Rosie;
– Daniel;
– Arabella.

Bath Newborn Photographer – Lily

I met Lily’s mummy 10 years ago. That day 10 years ago, looking very smart and, in my case, slightly nervous, Stacey and I  both walked into the large glass atrium of the law firm where we would work together for several years. The long hours create strong teamwork and some amazing friendships. Several years, endless Thursday night clubs, new jobs and even different career paths, I still have this amazing woman as one of my best friends. Some of the best things in this world sometimes need some time to materialise. When Stacey announced that she was pregnant, I couldn’t have been happier.

Since I had long switched being a lawyer to become Bath newborn photographer, it goes without saying that I *had* to photograph their adorable little girl when she was born. Stacey wanted some family photographs too so we headed to Royal Victoria Park in Bath. Bath has so many picturesque settings for photographs, but Victoria Park is one of my favourite for family photos. Lily was 3 months old when we schedule our session, which is  a little bit older than I usually have my newborn session but was perfect for the outdoor family portraits we had planned. After the family photos in the park, we headed back for some studio photos of baby Lily. She was an absolute star and gave me many smiles and cute expressions, like only a 3 month old baby can. She even fell asleep for some sleepy portraits. Lily’s aunty had got her the most adorable Chloe dress and Lily looked absolutely precious. Her hair is incredible, don’t you think? Here are a few images from her session.

Newborn Photographers near me Bath

Newborn photographers near me Bath – Newborn photography has become very popular for the last few years. When I started, there were only a handful of us, especially around Bath, Bristol, Somerset and Gloucestershire. A lot of my inspiration and mentors came from over the pond. Nowadays, when you search for newborn photographer near me Bath you will literally have hundreds of results. Here are a few pointers to help you choose the right photographer for you.

  1. Style

    The first thing to consider is the style you are after. Some newborn photographers offer lifestyle sessions – photographs are taken in your own home and feature non posed pictures of your life with your new baby – whilst others offer studio style photography. Think about what you would like, what sort of photographs you’d like to display in your home. Even amongst studio photographers styles will differ: Some will use a lot of props, some will use bright colours, others will stick to a simpler plain and neutral style.Newborn Photographers near me Bath

  2. Safety

    Speak to your photographer about newborn photography safety and make sure that they know how to pose your baby safely. You may have seen on this page photographs of babies in the “chin in hands” or “froggy” position. If you have ever wondered how newborns can get safely into this pose, here is the answer: A little bit of photoshop magic. Newborns should never be left holding their head or balanced in props. Whenever baby is in a basket, I always have someone close to baby to make sure baby is safe at all times. You would never let your newborn baby hold their own head, this is no different when it comes to newborn photography.

  3. Products

    When it comes to your baby’s images, you will want to display them. Whether you’d like digital files so you can print your own images and share them with those close to you or whether you’re after a bespoke album or wall art, make sure your photographer offers the right type of products for you.Bath baby Photographer

  4. Connect!

    It’s important that you enjoy yourself at your photo session and this starts by making sure you connect with your photographer. Speak to them on the phone, discuss your session to make sure they understand what your needs are and ease any concern you may have. Having spoken to your photographer, you will be more relaxed for your session, and so will your little one be.
